In one week to the "Blood Red Crime Story".
Literary talent wanted: Applications now open for "Königsblau - The Writing Workshop of the Friedel and Gisela Bohnenkamp Foundation
Osnabrück, April 27, 2020 - The Friedel & Gisela Bohnenkamp Foundation promotes literary talent from the Osnabrück region. In the fall of 2020, the foundation will invite twelve authors of all ages to "Königsblau - the writing workshop of the Friedel & Gisela Bohnenkamp Foundation" at the Malgarten Monastery. Under the guidance of journalist and author Anja Rützel and press officer Frederik Kathmann, the participants develop their own crime story in one week.
The word commission investigates: How do you write an exciting crime story? The authors go on a week-long quest. Together, they are on the trail of good writing. "We'll play with the conventions and motifs of the genre and trickily lay down narrative tracks," says Anja Rützel, "in perfectly inspiring surroundings that could also be the setting for a classic British country house crime novel." The venue is the picturesque Malgarten Monastery, where participants are accommodated for an entire week and allowed to focus solely on their texts and developing their linguistic skills outside the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
The 2020 theme: "Blood Red Crime Stories."
"As a foundation, we have always been concerned with the topic of language," says Michael Prior, managing director of the Friedel & Gisela Bohnenkamp Foundation. "With the "Königsblau" writing workshop, we have succeeded in creating a format that was very well received the first time around. Now we are looking forward to receiving applications for the new edition."
At a first meeting a few weeks before the writing workshop, participants will get to know each other and receive initial impulses for their text. During the first week of the fall holidays from October 12 to 16, 2020, the participants will then live, learn and write at the Malgarten Monastery. Room and board will be covered by the Friedel & Gisela Bohnenkamp Foundation. The application should be sent by e-mail to info@bohnenkamp-stiftung.de or by mail. It contains information on name, address and age as well as a sample text (maximum 400 words) and a text on motivation (maximum 200 words). People aged 15 and over are invited to apply. The deadline for registration is June 30, 2020. A jury will select the participants by the end of June 2020, after which the participants will be informed personally.
